Bible Society set to celebrate @ 50, unveil a legacy Bible

The Bible Society Nigeria is set to celebrate her 50 years anniversary of making the Word of God available to Nigerians and as well introduce a special Bible – A Legacy Bible.

A number of programmes and activities have been planned to celebrate the golden anniversary and God’s faithfulness to the organization. Such programmes include: a thanksgiving service on January 31, 2016 at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina; Bible Exhibitions & Symposia in Enugu, Abuja and Lagos on February 2, 4 and 8 respectively. There will be Mary Jones’ Walk and Youth Rally on January 5 and Special Luncheon for former and current staff members of the organization in Lagos.

The Legacy Bible is a special parallel Bible of five translations – English Language, Efik, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa. The Bible, which is the first of its kind in Africa, will have the translation history of the Bibles in each of the four Nigerian Languages. It is a Bible that a father can bequeath as a legacy to his first son or daughter as the case may be and who will pass it on from generation to generation. The Bible, which comes in high quality leather cover measuring 452x410 mm with 1768 pages and five ribbon markers, will be enclosed in a special wooden box.  It has three pages where all those who inherit it will be listed continuously.
