The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) is a member of the United Bible Societies (UBS), a global fellowship of Non-Denominational Christian Organization whose primary mission involves translation of the Holy Scriptures into languages people can easily read and understand as well as production and distribution of the Scriptures at affordable prices. It also organizes programmes to encourage interaction with the Scriptures and raises fund for these activities.

Driver –  Location- Lagos
Personnel Specification

  • Candidate must have a Secondary School Certificate.
  • The jobholder must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in driving.
  • A primary school leaving certificate with a good and impeccable knowledge of driving with at least 10 years’ driving experience may equally apply.
  • Must be a highly disciplined individual, a person of integrity and good character.
  • Must have a good knowledge of traffic codes and signs and a good knowledge of Nigerian roads- West, East, South and North.
  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license.
  • Ability to drive both lightweight vehicles (small cars and buses) and trucks (14-16 tons) would be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper management and maintenance of any assigned vehicle for optimum use.

Key Responsibilities

  • The job holder has a wide variety of responsibilities, basically cleaning and ensuring that staff are comfortable to sit in and work in their clean, neat, and sparkling offices, propelling them to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ensure adequate cleaning of office rooms, shelves, desks, chairs, windows and other office equipment.

Key Responsibilities

·         Dry-clean guestroom fabrics/materials, guests (inhouse and external customers) cloths/fabrics with utmost impeccability.

·         Select and identify guests’ fabrics/materials for washing or dry-cleaning according to specifications or materials’ texture.

Guestroom Attendant.  Location: Lagos & Ibadan

Guest Service Agent. Location: Lagos & Abuja

 IT Assistant.  Location: Lagos

The applicant must:

  • possess a minimum of National Diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Electronics Engineering or any other IT-related field.
  • possess MCP and CCNA.
  • have proven IT experience in Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory Management, Microsoft Office SharePoint, Sage 50 Accounting Software, Website Development and Management, Cisco Devices, Access Point Management and HP Printer Support.

Key Responsibilities

  • ND in Graphic Design / General Art.
  • Must be proficient in design packages: CorelDraw, Adobe Suite, and able to do 3D thumb up designs.
  • Must be a team player, able to work under pressure, deliver task to time and meet deadlines.
  • Must be between 25 – 35 years.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design packages using CorelDraw, Adobe Suite, etc.

Audit Assistant.  Location: Abuja
Personnel Specifications

v  Must possess National Diploma in Accounting or ATS with sound and practical knowledge of accounting software, (e.g. Sage 50).

v  Must have a minimum cognate experience of 2-3 years in a structured setting.

Key Responsibilities

v  Audit the activities of assigned BSN depots and Areas in the Northern part of Nigeria, and the Guest House in Abuja.

v  Ensure strict compliance to the BSN policies.

v  Monitor staff debts including advances, recover debts and report the true state of same to the Divisional Manager in Lagos.

v  Ensure strict compliance to necessary mechanisms put in to detect and prevent errors and frauds early.

v  Report every observed variances or breach of BSN operational standards promptly.

 Account Assistant –  Location: Lagos & Abuja
Personnel Specifications

  • Must have National Diploma in Accounting or ATS or Bus. Admin with sound and practical knowledge of accounting software, (e.g. Sage 50). The jobholder must have a minimum cognate experience of 2-3 years in a structured setting.
Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure monthly reconciliation of Account payables and journal entry request preparation (as and when due).
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statement.
  • Ensure analysis of income/expenses into cost centre in accordance with departmental budget.
  • Derive monthly net VAT remittance due on BGHRDC operations.
  • Post vouchers, bank tellers/bank journals into sage accounting software (payment of imprest vouchers).
  • Analyze and prepare international support program account.

Warehouse Assistant –  Location: Lagos
Personnel Specifications

Must have National Diploma in Accounting or ATS or Bus. Admin with sound and practical knowledge of accounting software, (e.g. Sage 50). Must have a minimum of 2 years’ cognate experience in warehouse or store management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure good management of stock with accurate record keeping.
  • Ensure day to day posting of all released stock.
  • Ensure stock are released promptly to salesmen as approved in the requisition form.
  • Receive the return of unsold items into the warehouse with accurate record.
  • Proper record keeping of all stock in the warehouse.
  • Posting of waybills and other stock management documents on Sage.
Warehouse Supervisor:  Location: Aba
Personnel Specification

  • Should have a minimum of National Diploma in Accounting or ATS or Bus. Admin.
  • Must have a sound and practical knowledge of accounting software, (e.g. Sage 50).
  • The jobholder must have a minimum of 3-4 years’ cognate experience in warehouse or store management.
  • Must be level headed, able to work under pressure and a highly disciplined individual.
  • Must be assertive, a person of integrity, good character and possess high numerical skill.
  • Must be result-driven and able to meet given deadlines in report submission and other related assignments.
Key Responsibilities

  • Witness and monitor the loading of the Sales Reps daily for accuracy and good record keeping.
  • Ensure prompt return to store of the TSO’s returned Bibles with proper documentations.
  • Post all loading and offloading documents and records on sage promptly.
  • Ensure that daily, weekly and monthly stock balances reports are made available to the Management Account Officer.
  • Report any noticed challenge in stock balances from the depot to the head office promptly.
  • Compile and send daily, weekly, and monthly stock balances of the depot to the headquarters for necessary attention.

Assistant Proofreader/ Copy Editor.  Location: Lagos
Personnel Specification:

  • A minimum of B.Sc degree in English Language, Linguistics, or Mass communication with working knowledge in Biblical Studies (Theology) from a recognized university.
  • Biblical knowledge.
  • Versatility in IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.
  • A high-level skill in written English, including spelling, grammar and punctuations.
  • A methodical working style and ability to stay focused throughout an entire document.
  • Concentration, accuracy and great attention to detail.
  • The ability to multitask and show tact in negotiating changes with Translators.
  • A committed Christian with deep understanding of the Bible.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Translator/Editor/Publishing Officer in a reputable publishing organization.
Key Responsibilities

·         Resolve queries directly with the Typesetters and Translators e.g. style and text inconsistencies.

·         Spot and correct spelling mistakes, punctuations and grammatical errors.

·         Create artwork briefs to detail the content of illustrations.

·         Ensure that illustrations are correctly captioned and referred to in the text.

·         Produce or work to a style checklist to ensure consistency in hyphenation, capitalization, formatting of references, etc.

·         Sub-edit text written by a number of authors to ensure consistent house style.

·         Prepare preliminary pages for the title, contents and preface of a publication.

·         Ensure that text matches the original and that spelling and style are correct and consistent.

·         Ensure that page numbers, headings and captions are correct.

·         Scrutinize documents in minute detail in order to identify errors.

Donors’/Membership Relations Officer. Location: Lagos
Personnel Specification

  • A minimum of HND or 1st degree in Arts/ Humanities with at least 3 years’ working experience in public relations or customer relations.
  • Computer literacy -MS Office is a must.
  • Must be matured; abilities to network and convince people to buy intangible products are very crucial.
  • Must possess a good public and human relations skills, good communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be a team player who can work along with other young and dynamic group of employees to achieve result without compromising standards.
  • Must have a proven experience in membership management productively and resourcefully.
  • Marketing experience will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain close working relationship with Donors & Volunteers.
  • Create, manage and update profiles of Donors on Donor Manager.
  • Manage, plan, develop, implement and evaluate stewardship plans for assigned donors.
  • Establish and maintain relationship with donors, including arranging courtesy visits by the division or senior management as the case may be.

Accountant.  Location: Lagos
Personnel Qualification

  • He must have a minimum of HND or 1st degree in Accounting or Finance related courses.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration would be an added advantage.
  • He must have sound practical knowledge of SAGE 50 peach tree and computer Microsoft office software.
  • Highly versed in general management with leadership abilities, a team player who can lead young and dynamic group of employees without compromising standards.
  • Must possess excellent analytical, interpersonal relations and sound decision making skills with eyes for details.
  • Must be at least an associate member of ICAN and Chartered Institute of Taxation for a minimum of 7 years with 10 years’ working experience out of which 5 years should be at a managerial level in a structured environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all incomes accruable are properly accounted for and all cash/cheques for donations collected and those paid-in directly through the banks are properly receipted and documented.
  • Ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly tellers from depots and bookshops pan Nigeria are properly reconciled with Management Accounts Division and instances of uncredited lodgements are promptly reported and that monthly bank reconciliations are carried out with maximum of one month only arrears.
  • Ensure expenditures are in accordance with the approved budget and that Guest Houses sales are properly recorded, accounted for and banked intact. Discounts approved are in line with the BGH Discount Policies.
  • Ensure approvals are obtained for cash advances and that all payments pass the WREN test, that is, must be Wholly, Reasonably, Exclusively and Necessarily incurred for the purpose of the business.
  • Ensure only eligible, confirmed and bonafide staff are on the payroll and staff salaries are paid on the 25th of every month.
  • Ensure that all monthly dues to FIRS and SIRS are properly deducted and remitted promptly to avoid penalties and sanctions. These include VAT collections, WHT, PAYE, etc.
  • Serve as the Budget Committee Secretary and see to the emergence of overall budget for the organization.
  • Prepare Monthly Management Accounts of the organization and submit to the SMF for review with the necessary footnotes and assumptions.
  • Prepare and submit to the SMF, Trial Balances and necessary Schedules to kick-start the annual audit exercise.

·         Ensure total compliance with the society’s financial policy guidelines.

·         Provide qualitative leadership and render accurate timely returns to appropriate statutory regulatory authorities in compliance with all applicable requirements.

·         Plan, organize and implement accounting operations that is in total compliance with IFRS provisions all time and devoid of errors.
