Lagos Deputy Governor commends BSN, as Angbulu wins BSN/NYSC Essay competition

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Idiat  Adebule has commended The Bible Society of Nigeria for making the Word of God available to Nigerians and also contributing to the socio-economic and political development of the nation.

Annual NYSC Essay Writing Competition Winners

Dr. Mrs. Adebule, who was ably represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Education, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, made the commendation while speaking at the 5th annual national NYSC essay competition and symposium organized by BSN for corps members which was won Mr. Steve Angbulu, a National Youth Service Corps member serving in Government Science Technical College, Kumo, Gombe State.

According to the Deputy Governor, the theme of the competition was germane as it would reawaken the youths to be conscious of their rights as future leaders of tomorrow, adding that for the youths to be able to effect the desired change and impact on the nation’s socio-economic development, they must imbibe values of honesty, integrity, hard work and diligence.

Other corps members who took part in the competition were: Joshua Tamunosiki who came second; Ogaga Eruteya took the third position; Jonathan Achile came forth; Apeiker Iorsoo took the fifth position while Toyin Moyosore came sixth.  The six contestants were unanimous in their submissions that recycling of leaders is antithetical to youth development and Nigeria’s future. They described as selfish and insensitive the attitude of Nigerian leaders who have refused to give the younger generation opportunity to contribute to decision making in the country.

The chairman of the occasion, Pastor Charles Iko-Abasi advised the youths to sharpen their skills and prepare themselves for the leadership positions being clamoured for.

Mr. Angbulu, who came first studied Quantity Surveying at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He went home with the star prize of a laptop, management books and copy of the Bible. Mr. Tamunosiki, the second prize winner got an iPad, a copy of the Bible and management books while Mr. Eruteya who took the third positon received a Tablet, a copy of the Bible and management books. Other three contestants got consolation prizes of Management books, handsets and a copy of the Bible each.
