Bible Society of Nigeria donates Bibles worth N13.8m

bible-society-of-nigeri-donates-biblesThe Bible Society of Nigeria [BSN] donated assorted Bibles worth N13, 897,370 in year 2015 as part of her free distribution programme.

Breakdown of the figure shows that the assorted Bibles given to the sighted worth N8, 441,370 were 7,668 copies while the cost of 124 complete sets of Braille Bible given to the People with Visual Disability was N5, 456,000.

Beneficiaries of this gesture included: Bethesda School for the Blind, Lagos; School for the Blind, Gindiri, Plateau State; Ade Okubanjo Special Home for the Blind, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State; Jesus People Enabled, Onipanu, Lagos; the Nigerian Military; Prisons; Christian Fellowships; five blind undergraduate students of University of Jos, Plateau State, some other members of the public, among others.

A complete set of braille Bible, which comes in 37 volumes, costs N44,000. The organization is able to pursue this free distribution programme with funds donated by members of Bible-A-Month Club, Special Members, corporate organizations, churches and individual donors.

In year 2014, the organization also donated scriptures worth N14.1m to the less privileged. This gesture is in line with her mission to meet the scriptural needs of Nigerians and to help them interact with the Word of God.

The Bible Society of Nigeria is a not-for-profit-making interdenominational Christian organization that translates the Bible into local languages, publishes, distributes and raises funds for the Bible work. So far we have the complete Bible in 24 Nigerian Languages while translation is ongoing in 13 different Nigerian Languages at the cost ₦40m per language.
