Bible Society donates Bibles worth ₦17.1million

The Bible Society of Nigeria [BSN] donated assorted Bibles worth ₦17, 178,505 in year the 2016 as part of her free Bible distribution.

The breakdown shows that a total of 62,410 copies of assorted Bibles given to the sighted including free downloads worth ₦7,102,505 while 229 complete sets of Braille Bible given to people with visual disability cost ₦10, 076,000. In year 2015, the organization also donated Scriptures worth ₦13.8 million. This gesture is in line with its mission to meet the Scriptural needs of Nigerians and to help people interact with the Word of God. Beneficiaries of this gesture included the Prisons, Christian Fellowships and organizations, schools for the blind, individual members of the public, among others.

 

Having successfully completed the donation of two complete sets of Braille Bible to at least two schools of People with Visual Disability in each of the 36 States of the country including Abuja, the organization commenced donation of Braille Bible to individual members of the public and the students of schools of People with Visual Disability who are braille literate for their personal use.

 

A complete set of Braille Bible, which comes in 37 volumes, costs ₦44, 000. The organization is able to pursue this free distribution programme with funds donated by members of Bible-A-Month Club, Special Members, corporate organizations, churches and individual donors.

 

The Bible Society of Nigeria is a not-for-profit-making interdenominational Christian organization that translates the Bible into local languages, publishes, distributes and raises funds for the Bible work. So far we have complete Bible in 24 Nigerian Languages while Bible translation/revision is ongoing in over 10 Nigerian Languages at a minimum cost of ₦40 million per language.
